Customer story: Runbooks make failovers simple and reduce post-event review

Hi, folks. It's me again, Deb Das from Cutover, and today I'm gonna share with you yet another customer story. I'm gonna tell you about how Cutover's automated runbooks have helped a very large financial services company better execute their data center failovers while reducing the post-event review from hours to only minutes. This company had to perform data center failovers every six months, which is normal, and they had to test the process with weekly simulated failovers. This process, however, was extremely manual and very disjointed. To manage these failovers, the application owner had to set up a conference call, otherwise known as a bridge call, involving hundreds of people, all of whom would have to be on this call for several hours just waiting for their instructions on what to do. These people couldn't go back to their day jobs and, in some cases, even had to spend the weekends on these very long conference calls. Not only that, but the post-event reporting was extremely manual as well and also very time consuming, taking another three to four hours just for the post-event reporting. This company had to find a better way. So they contacted Cutover, invested in Cutover's SaaS-based platform, and today, what they're able to do is load their recovery plans and their failover plans into Cutover and execute them. Therefore, there's no need for those long conference calls. They just kick off the automated runbook and people are now notified only when they need to execute a task. Not only that, but there's also a lot of automation now thanks to the Cutover integrations with other solutions like Jenkins and Rundeck that this customer happened to have. So all the information in those systems is available in Cutover so that the app owner does not need to leave the platform. They've also integrated Cutover with Microsoft Teams. This improves the communication and gives better visibility. Now Cutover's multi-runbook dashboards are providing huge value as well for measuring the recovery time actuals to compare them to the original recovery time objectives. Not only that, but post event, the application owner can now download the task list from Cutover and import the files straight into Fusion RM, their business continuity management platform, thereby reducing the post-event reporting from a three to four hour process to only five to ten minutes. That's right, three to four hours to five to ten minutes. This customer estimates that Cutover is now ten times better. Ten times better than the previous manual way of working and the dashboards and the post-event review capabilities have saved them around three hours per event.
